A woman has died after being struck by two cars at The Mall near Buckingham Palace.

It appears she was struck by the driver of a black Mercedes e-class, who hit the woman first and stopped at the scene.

She was then hit again by a blue Mercedes e-class, the driver off which fled from the scene, according to the Daily Mail.

The London Ambulance Service attended the scene, and the woman was pronounced dead at 2.20am.

Police later traced the second vehicle to an address in Hendon, north London, and arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Officers from the Road Death Investigation Unit are investigating, and officers are trying to identify the woman, who is described as of heavy build with dark, collar-length hair, according to the BBC.
