A school bus driver, who had just dropped off children, risked his own life when he squeezed his double decker vehicle through a level crossing and was stuck between the barriers. SCROLL DOWN FOR THE VIDEO.

Marcus Lamm, 21, passed over the train tracks despite the lights flashing and the barriers descending in Manningtree, Essex, reports the Daily Mail.

He became stuck behind a slow-moving agricultural vehicle and did not make it across the train tracks before the barriers closed, trapping him between them.

Fortunately, the First bus was empty apart from the driver.

The video posted on YouTube, shows the bus straddling the tracks and Lamm trying to move it forward.

Lamm, of Jaywick, appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court yesterday and admitted driving without due care and attention.

The court heard how he was spotted on CCTV and the operator was able to raise the barriers before a train arrived.

Lamm represented himself and told the court he had not seen the warning lights and thought he had enough time to make it across.

He said: "I had been sitting waiting for the train to come past with the barrier down.

"It came up and I followed with the traffic that was moving.

'"It was safe at the time. I didn't see any lights as I went through but obviously they were flashing.

"I don't know what happened between me moving off and getting stuck.'

Chairman of the bench Michael Mitchinson said: "It is clear the lights turned before you even moved off.

"We accept you were following a tractor but you shouldn't have followed unless it was safe to clear the railway lines.

"Any excuses about not seeing the light don't really apply."

Lamm said he had lost his job with First as a result of the incident.

He was ordered to pay a £300 fine, £100 court costs and given nine points on his licence.
