A new survey has revealed the array of items that have been left behind at hotels.
And they range from the predictable, like iPads and mobile phones, to the more unusual - like snakes, swords and even people.
The Belfast Telegraph reports that the new survey, conducted by lastminute.com, revealed that one businessman went straight to the airport, forgetting that he had left his wife at their Prague hotel. Another guest, staying in Dublin, forgot that his mother was with him and left without her.
Other surprising lost property includes snails, which were left behind at a hotel in Budapest, a snake that was left in a hotel in Washington DC and a dog, which was accidentally left in a Milan hotel.
A wedding dress was left behind in a New York hotel, and a police officer left his gun and badge at a hotel in Las Vegas.
The survey also revealed a 23 per cent increase in the number of forgotten iPads, laptops and smartphones, and 11 per cent of European hoteliers said there had been an increase in the number of sex toys and performance-enhancing drugs found by their staff after guests had checked-out.
"It comes as no surprise that hotel guests sometimes forget to pack all of their belongings; however we were incredibly surprised by some of the items - and in some cases people - left behind."
