Ex-professional wrestler Shawn Daivari used a classic choke hold on an unruly passenger who started yelling and threatening to kill everyone aboard a train.

The Daily Mail reports that Daivari, who was once a WWE and TNA star and went by the name of Sheik Abdul Bashir, says he was on a train to Minneapolis - St Paul International Airport when the passenger started scaring passengers.

Frightened witnessed pressed the train's emergency button but when nothing happened, Daivari, 28, took the matter into his own hands and grabbed the passenger in a rear naked choke hold - a move where the target is grabbed from behind and their neck is squeezed with the crook and an arm.

'I wasn't going to wait any longer to see if a cop showed up,' the wrestler told TMZ.

One witness spoke of how the man was left terrified and even lost control of his bladder. Daivari said he threw him off the train at the next stop.

The incident is being investigated by Transit police.

Iranian-American Daivari grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and became a well-known wrestler.

He said he had to do his civic duty to protect his fellow passengers on the train.
