Abbey Crouch was left suspended 30ft in the air after a ride at Alton Towers suffered a fault this weekend.

The model was riding the Sonic Spinball on her own after her 6ft 7in husband Peter Crouch was banned from the ride due to the 1.95m height limit.

A source told the Daily Star: "Abbey was really keen to try out the Sonic Spinball so she left Peter holding their daughter Sophia while she went for a spin.

"But halfway through there was a mechanical fault and she ended up stuck."

The source said that Abbey could be heard shouting: "Petey! Petey!"

A spokesperson for Alton Towers told the Daily Mail: "We did have a minor technical glitch on Sonic Spinball.

"The safety of our guests is paramount so our well-rehearsed procedures were implemented to ensure guests were able to leave the ride as quickly as possible."

Back in May, the Oblivion ride at Alton Towers came to a standstill after a man wandered into a prohibited area and had to be rescued.

The ride had to be stopped after a young man managed to get into its tunnel, according to a spokesperson for the Staffordshire-based theme park.

The man was rescued by three fire crews while the ride was out of action, and he was then taken to the University Hospital North Staffordshire as a precaution.
