Last night Princess Eugenie took place in a 63-mile charity bike ride to raise money for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Princess Eugenie, 22, underwent surgery at the hospital when she was 12 to correct scoliosis. Her sponsorship page says that she has raised more than £9,000 in total, including £500 from her mother Sarah, the Duchess of York. An accommodation unit at the hospital will now be named Princess Eugenie House in her honour.

The Daily Mail reports that Eugenie started the Nightrider 2012 bike ride at 12.50am this morning and finished at 7.50am at Alexandra Palace. Her mother was waiting for her at the finish line.

A further 3,000 other took part, including TV presenter Ben Fogle and actor Jim Carter.

The bike ride passes more than 50 landmarks around London, including Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, Hampstead Heath, London Zoo, Trafalgar Square and Battersea Power Station.
