Getting snacks or wine for a short UK getaway wouldn't be too much of a bother if there was an on-site supermarket.

And the forward-thinking people at Travelodge obviously thinks so too, as the company is set to open three developments featuring Waitrose supermarkets next year.

The low-budget hotel group and high-end supermarket chain will have hotels and stores in the same developments in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Sidcup, Kent, and Vauxhall, London towards the second half of 2012.

The hotel giant is also in talks over 25 other deals with major supermarket chains, in a move that could see 520 new hotel jobs created.

Travelodge has already opened a site with Tesco in Cricklewood, London, and Morrisons in Salford Quays, Manchester.

According to Travel Mole, CEO Guy Parsons said: 'We are very excited to be co-developing with Waitrose, one of the UK's leading supermarket brands. Having a Travelodge and Waitrose on site offers an attractive proposition for consumers, developers and investors.'
