A young pair of hikers who like to live life on the edge got nerves jangling when they enjoyed a kiss on a cliff - next to an 800ft drop.

Photographer Michael Matthews snapped the couple on the precipice at the Grose River Gorge in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

The tourist attraction and Australian landmark is known as Hanging Rock, and is only a foot wide at it's narrowest point.

He said: 'I feared seeing them fall. The end was only a foot wide. They stayed there for five minutes and even had a hug and kiss.'

The pair then inched their way back up the sandstone formation before enjoying a sky-high picnic.
