The character Johnny Castle was one of the actor's most-loved roles, and Lisa revealed she had no qualms about posing for the shots, two years after she lost Patrick to pancreatic cancer when he was just 57.

According to the Daily Mail, she said: 'It became clear to me that someone had put a lot of love into this, for a man I loved so very much.'

Lisa, who was married to Patrick for 34 years, says the pose is an appropriate nod to her late husband who, explains, was saying: 'Don't look down. Take a chance in whatever you do.'

It's not the first waxwork of Patrick Swayze to have been made; one was created for his movie alongside Demi Moore, Ghost, which, Lisa says, 'freaked Patrick out' when he saw it.

Colin Thomas, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hollywood said: 'Patrick Swayze touched so many of us in his too-short life – embodying quintessential teenage angst and steadfast love in Dirty Dancing, a generation of us grew up with Patrick Swayze.

'We are extremely pleased to be able to pay tribute to him in our attraction.'

Swayze's figure will join the ranks of other Hollywood icons like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, as well as Hollywood's latest big stars including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Aniston and Will Smith.
