Get the BBQ ready! Sun set to shine for August Bank Holiday

Although the forecast for the rest of this week is predicting rain, holidaymakers (and the tourist industry) can get excited - it's going to be a hot August Bank Holiday weekend in Britain!

Staycationers can breathe a sigh of relief - Saturday, Sunday and Monday's temperatures are predicted to be 20C, with little or no cloud in the sky.

According to walesonline.co.uk, forecasters say a high pressure is heading from the Azores to the UK.

Steve Ellison, from the MetroGroup, said: 'Early indications show that an extension of the Azores high is heading toward us and how warm it gets depends on how it progresses.

'But there are likely to be a few heavy showers with thunder around on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.'

Jonathan Powell of Positive Weather Solutions, said: 'There will be a fairly good outlook for the bank holiday, with the lion's share of the drier weather across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with good spells of sunshine dominating.

'Temperatures may just edge into the 20s or perhaps a little higher, but no more.'

But, the old saying 'it's grim up north' may ring true this weekend, as the south is set for better weather.

Jonathan added: 'As you gradually push further north it's like a sliding scale of misery, the situation deteriorates with showers looking likely and affecting more of the holiday.

'Temperatures too will struggle in the mid to late teens with sunshine at a premium.

'August looks like ending on a sunny note to the south, with some good spells of sunshine and with another area of high pressure building.'

And he also had some good news for September, saying it may well kick off with temperatures in the mid-20s.
