Laurier Gordon Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay has ventured into the Canadian market for the first time - and opened an upmarket restaurant in Montreal.

Laurier Gordon Ramsay opened its doors at 381 Laurier Avenue West in Outremont.

It will carry on the tradition of Rotisserie Laurier BBQ, Montreal's original rotisserie destination, which operated at the same location from 1936 to early 2011.

Gordon will serve as a consultant to Laurier Gordon Ramsay and oversee the development of its menu.

He said: 'Montreal has such a vibrant culinary tradition, and it is both exciting and challenging to be part of a local institution that has defined dining out for generations of people.

'Laurier Gordon Ramsay is about good food, friendly service and a brilliant atmosphere. We're the ultimate casual dining destination in a city that's passionate about what's on the plate.'

Laurier Gordon Ramsay's refreshed menu features both classic favourite dishes and new comfort-food staples. Quebec-raised, grain-fed rotisserie chicken is prepared using the traditional restaurant recipe that dates back 75 years. Burgers and smokey ribs share a billing with grilled salmon on a wood plank, a shrimp and crab roll and a porchetta sandwich with aioli and arugula.

Traditional dessert favourites like carrot cake and sugar pie will provide a lip-smacking finishing touch.

The restaurant kitchen team will be led by Chef Guillermo Russo, an Outremont native who cut his teeth at Lucien Restaurant (Toronto), the Black Hoof (Toronto), Aroma (Ottawa) and Olivieri (Montreal).

The reopening was led by Marie-Christine Couture and Danielle Lord, both graduates of the Institut de tourisme et d'hôtelliere du Québec.

Marie said: 'Whether you dine at Laurier Gordon Ramsay twice a week, as many of our regular customers do, or only once during a visit to Montreal, you will remember the experience. Our team is like a family, and we're bringing top-quality comfort food to the table in an environment that feels like home.'
