Russian billionaire buys most expensive home in US

A Russian billionaire has bought a lavish 2,370 square-metre home in California's Silicon Valley for $100 million (more than £62 million)- believed to be the most ever paid for a single-family home in the USA.

Yuri Milner, who has stakes in Facebook, Groupon and Zynga, fell in love with the French-style chateau, which sits on seven hectares overlooking San Francisco Bay.

The luxury estate has a ballroom, wine cellar, gym, spa and pools inside and outside.

The eye-watering sale price beats the previous high of $95 million in 2008 for an estate in Palm Beach, Florida.



According to The Wall Street Journal, the 49-year-old founder of investment firm Digital Sky Technologies, has no immediate plans to move in.

We don't mind house-sitting while he has a think about it...
