Book a night at London's coolest (and quirkiest) hotel room

Looking for a hotel in London? How do you fancy a room on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth Hall?

Here's a chance to spend the night somewhere really unusual: on the top of London's landmark buildings. For a limited time only, you can check into A Room for London, designed by David Kohn Architects and artist Fiona Banner.

The quirky boat-shaped hotel room (see an artist's impression, above) will perch on the Southbank Centre's music venue, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and will rest on the building as if it's been grounded from the waters below.

Guests will be treated to some of London's most fantastic views of St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben and beyond. When 'boarding', a nautical flag will be raised as a signal of it being occupied and you'll be able to fill in a logbook to share your thought of the experience.

The design was announced as the winner of the Living Architecture's Room for London competition, which attracted around 500 entries from architects and artists across the world.

The brief was to create a room where up to two people could spend a unique night in an 'exemplary architectural landmark'.

Bookings will be available through Living Architecture for stays of no more that one night from 8 September 2011.
