Expedia scoops double whammy at Globe awards

Holiday bookings site Expedia celebrated a double triumph at last night's prestigious Globe Travel Awards, organised by the trade magazine Travel Weekly in central London.

There was lots to smile about when the much-coveted Innovation in Travel awardwent to the company for its brilliant seach tool, Expedia Hotel View, which maps thousands of hotels all over the world in Google Streetview to help you find the perfect place to stay at the click of a mouse.

And Expedia also scooped the award for Favourite Online Booking Website. With easy navigation, thousands of cheap hotels, flights and packages worldwide and daily deals and discounts, it's not hard to see why they won that one.

The Globes are highly respected within the travel industry, and the ceremony was a glittering gathering. Hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr, the audience was treated to shows from streetdance group Flawless as well as the X Factor's Rebecca Ferguson. What a night!
