Tom Brady will reportedly produce, act in movie with Jane Fonda, Sally Field
Tom Brady has been retired for 23 days now, which isn't very long. But it was apparently long enough for him to line up his first post-football move. And it's a doozy, folks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brady is set to produce and act in a film called "80 for Brady," a football-themed, road-trip comedy starring four legendary actresses: Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Sally Field, and Lily Tomlin. The script for "80 for Brady" was written by Kyle Marvin and Michael Covino, based on a draft by Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins, the duo behind the coming-of-age hit "Booksmart." Marvin will also direct.

Inspired by a true story, Brady tells of four best friends and New England Patriots fans who take a life-changing trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their quarterback hero, Tom Brady, play and the chaos that ensues as they navigate the wilds of the biggest sporting event in the country. Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno and Field will play the quartet.
Brady isn't starring in the film, but he will have some kind of acting role. He's producing the movie through his production company, 199 Productions, which was established in early 2020. The name is a nod to his draft position because he was famously drafted in the second-to-last round with the 199th overall pick in 2000.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brady was "deeply involved" with the film from its earliest beginnings. He developed the idea with Donna Gigliotti, who has produced hits like "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Shakespeare in Love," which are both Oscar-winning films.
This whole thing sounds like an April Fool's joke, or a headline ripped from the Onion — especially because the film's plot is centered on four women who take a road trip to see Brady, their "quarterback hero" — but it's not. The site Discussing Film had an exclusive report on Brady's foray into acting and producing on Jan. 29.
While New England Patriots fans might be eager to relive the glory of Super Bowl LI in movie form, Atlanta Falcons fans probably aren't. Some probably still have nightmares of being up 28-3 at halftime only to watch their team crumble in the second half and eventually lose 34-28. That kind of glorious comeback is a screenwriter's dream, but only if they're not a Falcons fan.
