Sweet Story of Cats ‘Falling in Love’ Reads Like a Movie Script

When two pets meet for the first time, it can be a bit nerve-wracking. But for orange cats Diggle and Nala, it seemed to be love at first sight. Diggle had lived with his mom and dad for years before Nala entered the mix. Nala found the couple as they were leaving a restaurant one night. She had frostbite on her ears and the couple took her home the next day. The rest, as they say, it history.

Watch the video that their mom posted in mid-March of the love story after they first met. They seemed to be the perfect match from the start!

Isn't this story the sweetest thing? Nala was a bit unsure and timid at the beginning, but Diggle knew from the start that it was meant to be. The video quickly went viral, and has been viewed more than 10 million times. People have left more than 11 thousand comments as well. @heizz3 got nearly 30 thousand likes for their comment, "THE TAIL TOUCCHHHH!!!!" @marie swooned, "The kisses and the tail holding!!" But @issam had my favorite comment and made all of us laugh when he said, "Bro ain't no way that cats have a better love life then me!"

Can Cats Really Fall in Love?

If you have pet cats, they may be friendly towards each other, despise each other, or act madly in love. But can cats really fall in love? It depends who you ask.

21 Cats thinks that it is possible for cats to fall in love, though they provide no scientific background for it, "Cats are capable of falling in love romantically, just like humans. Observant cat owners have noticed their feline friends displaying signs of affection towards other cats, such as grooming and cuddling. These behaviors are considered to be indicative of romantic love in cats."

Another site PetShun also tackles the topic, "Unlike humans, cats do not have the cognitive ability to understand the concept of romantic love. They do not possess the same capacity for emotional connections that humans do. Instead, their relationships are based on a more instinctual level." They go on to say that it is possible to be affectionate with each other and form strong bonds, but it's not love.

I'd like to think that our pets are capable of loving each other, much the same way that they love us and we love them.
