What does this mean?
We have identified and begun to restrict the activity of certain users on Yahoo Daily Fantasy who have reached certain skill thresholds. These players, who have a significant amount in net profits, fall into a new category we are naming “Super Veterans”. Super Veterans are no longer able to play multi-entry contests on Yahoo Daily Fantasy. This will give other Yahoo Daily Fantasy players an opportunity to win our biggest cash prizes.
Super Veterans will be given a new badge that will be clearly visible to all users. Super Veterans will still be allowed to create head to head contests and enter contests where only one entry is permitted. However, Super Veterans, like Veterans, are restricted from ‘Rookie’ or ‘No Veterans’ contests of any type — single or multi-entry.
‘How did you come up with the criteria for Super Veterans?’
How we came up with the criteria is very simple. We looked at the players who won a) most consistently and b) in large amounts and found that their impact on other players' opportunities to win was significant and that by limiting those players we could help thousands of other players win more.
‘Aren’t you damaging your profitability and the size of your contests by eliminating such volume?’
No, we believe that existing players will play more and new players will join to play on Yahoo versus other sites. We believe these changes create a fairer playing field that will result in increased engagement.
‘If I suddenly win big won’t I be banned?’
No, we only restrict players who consistently win large amounts over time.
‘What are the criteria for Super Veterans? Why don’t you publish them?’
We look at net winnings over time and there are thresholds for percentage of profit (ROI) as well as total volume. We are not sharing the specific thresholds as we continue to evaluate them over time.
