Western Carolina offensive line coach John Peacock dies suddenly at 32
Western Carolina offensive line coach John Peacock died at his home on Wednesday, the school announced on Friday.
The 32-year-old had been hired by the school earlier this spring. The cause of death is not yet known.
“Known by his colleagues and student-athletes as a selfless, hard worker who was always upbeat and constantly humming or singing, Coach Peacock will be sorely missed,” the school said in a statement, in part.

Peacock was hired by Western Carolina after a year as an assistant coach at Tusculum University. He also spent three seasons coaching at Valdosta State, where he went to school himself, and helped coach them to a NCAA Division II title in 2018.
Peacock, his WCU bio said, was set to marry his fiancé in February.
Western Carolina will kick off its season on Sept. 4 against Eastern Kentucky, which will mark its first game under new head coach Kerwin Bell. The Catamounts will honor Peacock at the game.
“Catamount Athletics will host a moment of silence in his honor during the first football game of the season … and the University will lower the WCU flag in his honor on the day of his memorial service,” the school said, in part.
“Please keep the family and loved ones of Coach Peacock in your thoughts.”
