Cubs manager David Ross and president of baseball ops Jed Hoyer test positive for COVID-19
The Chicago Cubs will be without manager David Ross and president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer for a couple days. Hoyer and Ross tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced Friday.

Hoyer and Ross are both vaccinated. Both men are feeling "well," and are currently quarantining, according to Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic.

Bench coach Andy Green will serve as the team's manager as long as Ross is out. Both Hoyer and Ross can work remotely while quarantining.
Cubs lagged behind in COVID-19 vaccination rate
In May, Hoyer criticized the organization for failing to reach the 85 percent vaccination threshold. Hoyer said it was "disappointing" the team failed to reach that benchmark, and said the team worked hard to educate others about the positives of being vaccinated.
The team took a big step toward getting more employees vaccinated Thursday, reportedly issuing a mandate that all non-players must be vaccinated by Oct. 4.
