Crusaders call on Ennor for injured Crotty in Super Rugby final against Jaguares
Braydon Ennor and Mitchell Dunshea will replace Ryan Crotty and Scott Barrett in the Crusaders' line-up to face Jaguares in Saturday's Super Rugby final.
Scott Robertson's side will be without influential New Zealand duo Crotty (thumb) and Barrett (finger), who are set to be sidelined for eight and six weeks respectively with injuries suffered in the semi-final win over the Hurricanes.
It brings to an end Crotty’s 11-year association with the Canterbury side ahead of his departure to Japanese side Kubota Spears.
Crotty's place in midfield will be taken by Ennor, while Dunshea will step in at lock alongside captain Sam Whitelock. Will Jordan is back from injury to take his place in the squad.
Jaguares have made three changes, with Marcos Kremer, Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro and Ramiro Moyano replacing Tomas Lezana, Mayco Vivas and Sebastian Cancelliere.
Unfortunately Ryan and Scott have both been ruled out of the Final due to hand injuries. Read more about their injuries and timeframes at https://t.co/Yd8xaF8BgC. All the best for your recovery guys #crusadeon— BNZ Crusaders (@crusadersrugby) July 1, 2019
Crusaders head coach Robertson accepts his side, aiming for a third straight triumph in the competition, have their work cut out against Jaguares, who are bidding to win their first title.
He said: "This is going to be a massive challenge against a tough Jaguares side, and there has been plenty of great energy in our environment this week.
"This is the Jaguares' first final so they'll have plenty of motivation and will be buoyed by the support of their passionate fans.
"The occasion is something we've embraced in our group, it's exciting and really special to be involved in a final and to play for our friends, family and the people of the Crusaders region on Saturday night."
