The worst pitch of all time? Cameraman plunked by shocker
Photographers at sporting events always have to be wary, but it is safe to assume Darren Georgia thought he was out of harm's way when the Chicago White Sox's employee of the month stepped up to throw the first pitch on Tuesday.
There have been some awful first pitches in Major League Baseball, but this attempt may just be the worst one yet.
Handed the chance to open the White Sox's meeting with the Kansas City Royals, the employee found an altogether different target, as the errant first pitch travelled not towards home plate, but instead directly into the unfortunate photographer's face.
"I honestly didn't even see it coming," Georgia, who said the White Sox team photographer had not seen it happen in a 35-year career, told NBC. "I'm glad I could be the first."
