Raiders forward Leilua to undergo neck surgery
Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua will undergo neck surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the NRL season.
Leilua was a late withdrawal from the Raiders' 30-12 victory over Penrith Panthers last weekend.
The 27-year-old will go under the knife and the Raiders do not envisage that he will play any further part in the campaign.
A club statement said: "Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua will undergo surgery on a neck injury and will most likely be out for the remainder of the season.
"Leilua met with a specialist and surgery was agreed as the best treatment for the injury and Joey's long-term health.
"At this stage it is highly unlikely he will be available to play again this season."
The Raiders have also lost John Bateman for up to eight weeks after the forward underwent eye-socket surgery.
