Last-gasp Chee-Kam solo try downs Broncos
Michael Chee-Kam's sublime late solo try snatched a 22-16 victory for Wests Tigers over the struggling Brisbane Broncos.
The Broncos had won eight of their last nine NRL matches against the Tigers, but they were left stunned at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday.
Chee-Kam settled it in a tense finale, wriggling his way through the heart of the Broncos defence before dotting down for a score that leaves Brisbane with only one victory from five games this season.
The Broncos led 8-6 at the break after Matt Gillett crossed in only the second minute, with Luke Garner taking a Chee-Kam offload to touch down at the other end after Jamayne Isaako was on target with a penalty.
Gillett and Robert Jennings were unable to return after failing head injury assessments and Wests hit the front with a Matt Eisenhuth try and six points from the boot of Esan Marsters.
Corey Oates had a score ruled out for offside early in the second half but the Broncos were back on level terms after Kodi Nikorima's brilliant try and another penalty from Isaako.
There was one final late twist when the game looked to be heading for golden-point extra time, with Chee-Kam stepping inside and showing power and pace to dart through and secure a third win for the Tigers.
