Harper wants Trout at Phillies
Bryce Harper said he will do all he can to bring Los Angeles angels star Mike Trout to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Harper joined the Phillies in a stunning 13-year, $330million deal after leaving MLB rivals the Washington Nationals.
The six-time All-Star said a big reason why he wanted to sign such a long deal with no opt-outs was so he could convince others he was in Philadelphia to stay.
Now, Trout – who grew up a die-hard Phillies fan and has a six-year, $144m contract with the Angels which expires in 2020 – is being targeted by Harper.
"If you don't think I'm gonna call Mike Trout to come to Philly in 2020, you're crazy," Harper told SportsRadio 94.1WIP on Tuesday.
"I can really put that faith in myself being able to say we're the Philadelphia Phillies and we want everyone who wants to come to Philly," Harper added.
Trout is a seven-time All-Star and two-time American League MVP, while Harper won the National League MVP with the Nationals in 2015.
