Sarah Thomas becomes first female official in NFL playoff game
Sarah Thomas became the first female to officiate in the NFL playoffs during the New England Patriots' win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Thomas was the down judge as the Patriots beat the Chargers 41-28 in the AFC divisional clash.
She already made history in 2015, when Thomas became the first full-time female officiant in the league.
Thomas was close to having a postseason assignment two years earlier. She was named an alternate for the Atlanta Falcons-Los Angeles Rams' wildcard game in 2017.
Terri Valentini, who was the NFL's first female replay official, also was given her first postseason gig — working the Kansas City Chiefs' victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
