Panthers place Olsen on injured reserve list
Greg Olsen's season is over after the Carolina Panthers announced the veteran tight end has been placed on injured reserve.
Olsen ruptured the plantar fascia in his right foot during Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, having also missed three games earlier in the season after fracturing the same foot.
"We got as much out of it as we could have," Olsen said after the game. "Finally my foot just had enough."
The 33-year-old caught 27 passes for 291 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Olsen - a three-time Pro Bowler - broke the same bone last season, forcing him to miss nine games for Carolina.
The Panthers are 6-6 on the season but have lost four in a row to suffer a blow in their playoff hopes. They will hope to get back to winning ways when they travel to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
