New Zealand batsmen set world record for most runs scored in a single over

Two New Zealand batsmen have combined to set a world record by hitting 43 runs, including six sixes, from a single over in a domestic one-day cricket match.

Joe Carter and Brett Hampton were helped by two no-balls as they set the record while batting for Northern Districts against Central Districts in a Ford Trophy match in Hamilton on Wednesday.

The unfortunate bowler was Willem Ludick for the record-breaking over. The prolific batting partnership went on to post an impressive stand of 178, with Carter eventually being bowled for 95 while Hampton went on remain unbeaten on 102.

Northern Districts ended the innings on 313 for 7, beating their opponents who scored 288 for 9 in their allotted overs.
