Gossip: Manchester United 'prepare to lose De Gea and Sanchez'

David de Gea and Alexis Sanchez could both leave Manchester United.

Manchester United managed to keep the margin of defeat to Juventus to just one goal on Tuesday night in the Champions League, but there could be a much more damaging blow to come.

United boss Jose Mourinho is concerned that David de Gea will join Juventus on a free transfer, claims the Irish Sun. De Gea has one year left on his current deal, and while United have a one-year extension they can activate, his club are aware that Juventus are happy to wait to snap him up on for nothing, just as they did with Emre Can.

The Italian champions have also brought in Andrea Pirlo, Dani Alves and Sami Khedira as free agents in the past few years, and with De Gea’s contract negotiations stalled, they could have another talent in their sights. After spending £88million on Cristiano Ronaldo, balancing the books will be a concern.

De Gea is not the only player who could be on his way out at Old Trafford, but Mourinho will not be so unhappy to lose Alexis Sanchez. The former Arsenal winger is linked in the Mirror with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the report, Sanchez would happy with a move to Paris, though options in Italy and Spain would be explored too. Despite Sanchez arriving on a free transfer and giving the Chile international £500,000 a week, United would want a large fee for the player who has lost his way at the club following a string of poor performances and criticism from Mourinho.

And there could be good news for some United fans and Ed Woodward, but not Mourinho, as Anthony Martial is still in talks over a new contract at Old Trafford. However, one thing is settled – £160,000 a week is not enough to convince him to stay.

Spurs eye move for Pope

Tottenham Hotspur could finally sign a player after an extremely odd summer. Spurs failed to buy a single new player for Mauricio Pochettino, but now have their sights set on Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The London club want to add a homegrown goalkeeper to their squad, and have been impressed by Pope’s ascent to the England team, which saw him go to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Pope is currently recovering from a dislocated shoulder, and will have to battle past both Joe Hart and Tom Heaton to win back his place. If he fails to do so, Spurs will be waiting with an offer.

Chelsea could see Moses part

New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is sifting through his squad and working out his favourites. That has left old regulars like Victor Moses and Gary Cahill struggling for game time.

Cahill had been expected to leave in January, but after a few appearances in the Europa League, and Chelsea’s nascent Premier League title challenge, the central defender would now rather be part of one final push for a trophy with the blues. However, Sarri’s preference for a back four has seen Moses pushed into third place behind Pedro and Willian for the chance to feature on the right wing, meaning the 27 year old is willing to leave for regular minutes.
