Cipriani given three-week ban for high tackle

Danny Cipriani has received a three-week ban for his high tackle on Rory Scannell in Gloucester's loss to Munster in the European Champions Cup.

The fly-half was shown a red card in the 29th minute at Thomond Park after his shoulder connected with Munster centre Scannell's head.

Cipriani's sentence is lighter than the five-week suspension recently handed out to Toulouse centre Jerome Kaino for a similar tackle on Bath's Jamie Roberts.

The ban covers three Premiership matches, meaning the 30-year-old will next be available against Leicester Tigers on November 16.

He was recently omitted by Eddie Jones for England's upcoming internationals against South Africa, New Zealand, Japan and Australia.
