Gary Neville was heard swearing on Sky Sports as he raged over a mystery incident during Manchester City’s draw against Liverpool.

Neville’s outburst was heard on colleague Martin Tyler’s microphone at half-time at Anfield, in front of an audience of millions.

It is not clear what caused Neville’s fury, but it could have been a possible penalty that City were denied in the first half.

Dejan Lovren might have been penalised for running into the back of Sergio Aguero, but no penalty was awarded.

Neville said: “That’s the only thing he’ll be thinking.

“It’s f****** obvious. After a week like that…”

After the game, Sky Sports presenter David Jones apologised for the mistake, saying: “Apologies incidentally if you heard any bad language at all during our broadcast today.”

City were eventually given a penalty, but Riyad Mahrez missed the spot-kick and with it, the chance to win the match.
