Redskins rookie Guice out for season with torn ACL
Washington Redskins rookie running back Derrius Guice will miss the 2018 NFL season after tearing knee ligaments in Thursday's preseason opener.
Initial reports stated Guice, a second-round pick out of LSU, had been diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament, but an MRI scan confirmed he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 21-year-old hyperextended the same knee at LSU, but did not undergo surgery.
Guice had six carries for 19 yards in a preseason debut against the New England Patriots on Thursday and tweeted a smiling emoji, which since been deleted, following a 26-17 defeat.
He tweeted "God never makes mistakes." after news of his injury blow broke.
