Liverpool's James Milner shows off gruesome head wound that required 15 stitches
James Milner is never afraid to put his body on the line and the Liverpool midfielder was left with another war wound on Saturday night.
The Yorkshireman opened the scoring in a 5-0 friendly win over Napoli in Dublin before being involved in a nasty collision with Portuguese defender Mario Rui.
Milner was left bloodied and dazed by the clash before having 15 stitches on what was described as a ‘crazy cut’ by Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
“I knew that he would get stitches because we saw it on the pitch,” said Klopp. “James Milner played a brilliant game before going off with a crazy cut.

“He’s in the dressing room so I have to see him first before I can say more. That’s obviously the big shadow over that game.
“[He’s had] a lot of stitches, 15, and you don’t want that in that position in your face. But then he is quite positive about it, but probably nobody showed him the mirror so far!
“Hopefully it will be good and that’s very important. It’s not about celebrating the moment, it’s about working for the big moments.”

Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno were also on target for the Reds but Milner might not remember much of the match.
He posted a picture of the gash on Twitter and is now a doubt for Liverpool’s Premier League opener with West Ham on August 12.
