Premier League transfer gossip: Man Utd 'won't sell Martial without signing Perisic', Chelsea 'aim to swap Morata for Higuain', Tottenham 'confident on Grealish'

The transfer rumour about Manchester United trying to sign Ivan Perisic has been going on for at least a year, so another day of it won't hurt will it? Following yesterday's revelation that the Red Devils definitely won't be getting the Croatian winger, we learn today that, actually, they might be getting him after all.

The Mirror says Perisic remains top of Jose Mourinho's summer shopping list, whether he likes it or not, and that his value has rocketed to £60m following his excellent performance at the World Cup.

One person who is very interested in all of this, even if you aren't, is Anthony Martial. That's because Mourinho will reportedly refuse to let the Frenchman leave Old Trafford unless he can bring in Perisic as his replacement.

Martial is keen for a transfer due to his peripheral status in Mourinho's attack, and also recently allegedly annoyed his boss by quitting United's pre-season tour of the USA to return home for the birth of his second child (unacceptably selfish of him – pre-season tours are MASSIVE).

But despite all this, Mourinho will not sell him without signing Perisic first. It's all very frustrating for Martial, who is wanted by Chelsea, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Complicating things further is that Man Utd are trying to sign Toby Alderweireld from Spurs, but the north Londoners will not enter negotiations unless Martial is included in the deal.

Chelsea demand £62m for Alvaro Morata

Chelsea could raise the funds for the £70m-rated Martial by selling Alvaro Morata to AC Milan for almost that amount. According to the Sun the Blues have placed a rather optimistic £62m price tag on the Spanish striker, who failed to impress in the Premier League last season.

Even more cheekily, Chelsea have offered less money than they are demanding for Morata for the comparatively prolific Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain. The Express says Blues transfer guru Marina Granovskaia has "jetted to Italy" to seal a £53m deal for the Argentine.

However, Italian agent Giuseppe Accardi has "warned" the Blues they will face stiff competition for Higuain from AC Milan. But not if they sell them Morata first, Giuseppe.

Spurs interested in Championship star

Meanwhile, Daniel Levy's plan to get Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish on the cheap may have been scuppered by the Midlanders being taken over by billionaires. However, the Mirror says the Tottenham chairman "still believes" he can get the 22-year-old for £20m. And to be fair if anyone can, Levy can.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are ready to accept Everton's £27m offer for their Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina (Goal), West Ham are considering a move for the former Newcastle and PSG winger Hatem Ben Arfa (Sports Mole) and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri's backroom staff were left "bemused" by the Italian's signing of veteran goalkeeper Rob Green (Times). As was Rob Green.
