Cubs use five-run fifth inning to trump Cardinals

The Chicago Cubs rallied to beat the St Louis Cardinals 9-6 in MLB action on Thursday.

Chicago used a five-run fifth inning to overcome St Louis at Wrigley Field following the All-Star break.

The Cubs trailed 3-1 in the fifth but Ian Happ's two-run homer highlighted Chicago's comeback.

Chicago have now come from behind to win 31 times this season - the most in MLB ahead of the Boston Red Sox (28).

Boasting the best record in the National League, the Cubs - three games clear of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central - have now won 13 of their last 16 games.

The Cardinals are third and eight-and-a-half games behind.
