Can we go to Paris now? - Thomas in a hurry after conquering Alpe d'Huez
Geraint Thomas is in a hurry to challenge for the Tour de France title after winning back-to-back stages.
Victory on stage 11 earned Thomas the yellow jersey before his triumph on Alpe d'Huez on Thursday strengthened his grip on top spot in the general classification.
With a lead of one minute and 39 seconds over four-time champion and team-mate Chris Froome, Thomas is pinching himself.
"I am speechless. There wasn't a chance in hell I was going to win today [Thursday]. I just kept following [Tom] Dumoulin and Froome," said the Welshman.
"Can we just go to Paris now?"
But Thomas does not have designs on Froome's status as the team's lead rider, insisting he remains a support act for his Team Sky colleague.
"Maybe I can keep the jersey for the next few days," he said.
"This race is so hard and you never know how the body reacts. I am still riding for Froomey, he knows how to ride for three weeks. He is a legend, one of the best ever."
