Police said a man has been detained on suspicion of arson and malicious communications outside an address in Enfield.
The 35-year-old former defender has been struggling in recent years since his football career was put on hold because of a ban.
A Met Police statement read: “Police investigating an alleged arson at a residential address in Enfield on Saturday, 30 June, arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of arson and malicious communications outside the address at around 17:00hrs on Saturday, 7 July.
“He was taken to a north London police station where he currently remains.”
The Mirror say friends are understood to be ‘concerned for Eboue’s mental and emotional state’.
Eboue revealed in 2016 that his year-long ban from football has driven him to the verge of suicide.
He served a 12-month suspensio over his refusal to pay an agent after his move from Arsenal to Galatasaray seven years ago.
Eboue subsequently had his contract at Sunderland terminated.
