BREAKING NEWS: De Villiers announces international retirement

South Africa batsman AB de Villiers has retired from international cricket with immediate effect.

Former captain De Villiers has played 114 Tests, 228 one-day internationals and 78 Twenty20s for the Proteas, but on Wednesday said he is "tired" and "running out of gas".

The 34-year-old revealed he hopes to continue playing for the Titans and has no plans to play overseas so soon after Morne Morkel signed a Kolkap deal with Surrey.
