Button wants Ricciardo Ferrari move

Jenson Button believes Daniel Ricciardo is fortunate to be in demand and wants to see the Red Bull driver at Ferrari next season.

Ricciardo is in the final year of his contract and has held talks over a new deal with Red Bull.

The 28-year-old last month denied reports that he has reached an agreement to move to Ferrari, but 2019 Formula One champion Button would love to see the Australian take a seat with the Scuderia.

"I'm guessing he has the opportunity of going to Ferrari, a possibility at Mercedes and Red Bull. It's a tough one - those are the top three teams." Button told Sky Sports.

"No one really gets that opportunity and he's very lucky to find himself in that situation. He's got to go with his heart and go with a team that feels right for him with the team atmosphere.

"Personally, I'd like to see him in a Ferrari."

Button says he can understand why Ricciardo is in no rush to make a decision on his future.

"He doesn't want to make the decision too soon but he also doesn't want to make it too late. Then it looks like he's seeing who was most competitive towards the end of the year." the Englishman added.

"Next year is a completely different year and who knows who's going to be competitive?"
