Dodgers recall SP Buehler, could stick in rotation
The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled starting pitcher Walker Buehler ahead of Friday's game against the San Diego Padres.
Buehler, 23, has already made two starts this season, striking out 11 batters with just two runs allowed in 10 innings.
He is 1-0, and will start Friday's game, which is being played in Mexico.
Though Buehler has been sent back down to the minors after both his previous starts, he has the chance to remain in Los Angeles' rotation this time around with Ryu Hyun-jin sidelined until after the All-Star break with a groin injury.
Today, the Dodgers recalled Walker Buehler from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and optioned Edward Paredes to Triple-A Oklahoma City. IF/OF Brevyic Valera was also recalled from OKC and will be the 26th man per MLB rules for the Mexico Series in Monterrey.-- Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) May 4, 2018
The Dodgers (14-17) need something positive to happen after losing star shortstop Corey Seager for the season due to Tommy John surgery.
Buehler, the 12th-ranked prospect on MLB.com, has an upper-90s fastball and nasty curveball.
