Last-gasp Gigot drop-goal gets Catalans off bottom

A last-minute drop-goal from Tony Gigot gave struggling Catalans Dragons a morale-boosting 25-24 victory over Hull FC and moved them off the foot of the Super League table.

Hull let the lead slip on three separate occasions, with Josh Drinkwater proving a key figure with 16 points on his Catalans debut before Gigot slotted through the decisive kick.

Drinkwater converted tries by Brayden Wiliame and Gigot, as well as one of his own early in the second half, as the Dragons fought from 14-8 down at the break to lead.

Jack Connor added the extras to Scott Taylor's second score and sent a penalty over to put Hull back in front, but it was the French side that came out on top in a tense finale.

Catalans' second win in seven Super League matches sends them above Huddersfield Giants, while Hull lost ground on the top four.
