Red Sox shortstop Bogaerts activated from DL

Star shortstop Xander Bogaerts is back from the 10-day disabled list, the Boston Red Sox announced on Friday.

MLB World Series champion Bogaerts, batting .368 with two home runs and nine RBIs this season, missed 15 games with an ankle injury.

The 25-year-old - a two-time Silver Slugger award winner and 2016 All-Star - has not played since April 8.

Boston placed Brock Holt on the 10-day DL in a corresponding move, creating a roster spot for Bogearts, who will bat fifth against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.

The high-flying Red Sox (19-5) have the best record in MLB.
