WATCH: 'Absolutely devastated' Smith breaks down amid repeated apologies
One thing is clear following Steve Smith's emotional news conference in Sydney on Thursday. The former Australia captain is certainly sorry.
Addressing reporters on his return to New South Wales, having been handed a 12-month ban by Cricket Australia for his role in the ball-tampering scandal that marred the third Test with South Africa, a tearful Smith apologised repeatedly - saying "sorry" five times during a brief appearance in front of the media.
Smith also described himself as "absolutely gutted and "absolutely devastated", before stating: "I know I'll regret this for the rest of my life" as he struggled to maintain his composure amid some probing questions regarding the saga.
It all made for tough viewing, as you can see here.
