Winter Olympics 2018: Hosts South Korea off the mark with Lim gold
Lim Hyo-jun won South Korea's first medal of the 2018 Winter Olympics with gold in the men's 1500 metre short-track speed skating event on Saturday.
The hosts were treated to a nerveless showing from the 21-year-old, who finished 0.07seconds ahead of world-record holder Sjinkie Knegt of Netherlands.
Semen Elistratov took the bronze competing under the banner of the Olympics Athletes from Russia, meaning there was no medal for defending champion Charles Hamelin, who incurred a penalty.
Lim was quick to get to the front and he avoided any drama to cross the line first in an Olympic record time of two minutes 10.485secs.
