Widnes Vikings ran riot in the second half to start their Super League campaign with a 40-12 thumping of Catalans Dragons on Sunday.
Catalans won the 'Million Pound Game' to retain their top-flight status last year, but they could be in for another tough season on the evidence of their capitulation at Halton Stadium.
The Perpignan club were level at 12-12 at the break after David Mead and Benjamin Jullien marked their debuts with tries inbetween scores from Chris Dean and Joe Mellor.
Widnes took charge after the break and ran away with it, Krisnan Inu crossing against his former club before Dean completed a double.
Patrick Ah Van, Charly Runciman and Stefan Marsh also helped themselves to four-pointers and the lively Tom Gilmore scored 12 points from the tee in an encouraging start for the Vikings.
