Le'Veon Bell and the Pittsburgh Steelers have made progress toward a contract extension, according to the running back.
While practicing for the Pro Bowl, Steelers star Bell said talks "are a lot closer than we were last year."
Bell and the Steelers have been discussing an extension since Pittsburgh's season ended in the NFL playoffs.
The 25-year-old was openly unhappy about having the franchise tag placed on him this season and said if it were placed on him again he would consider retiring or leaving the Steelers.
Based on the tag, Bell was paid $12.1million this season after he turned down a contract estimated to be worth $30m in the first two years because he felt the team were not giving him his worth.
