Date set for Afghanistan's maiden Test

Afghanistan have announced the date of their maiden outing in Test cricket, with India set to be their opponents in Bengaluru between June 14-18.

It was last June that Afghanistan, together with Ireland, became the ICC's newest full members, enabling both nations to play Test cricket for the first time.

Phil Simmons, who was appointed Afghanistan's coach late last year, could hardly have wished for a more fitting opening fixture in the longest form of the game.

India top the ICC Test rankings and have beaten Afghanistan in each of the three limited-overs fixtures between the sides.
