Tom Dumoulin will defend his Giro d'Italia crown in 2018, race organisers have confirmed.
The Team Sunweb rider claimed his maiden Grand Tour general classification victory in May, securing the pink jersey by 31 seconds ahead of Nairo Quintana.
Various media reports last week suggested the Dutchman would be back to contest the 2018 Giro, and the news was confirmed on Thursday by the event's official Twitter account.
"Tom Dumoulin will ride the #Giro101 to defend the Maglia Rosa!" read the post.
Also a winner of individual stages on the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana, Dumoulin opted against racing in the other two Grand Tours in 2017.
