Jaco Kriel's representatives have dismissed reports the Lions and South Africa flanker has agreed to join Gloucester as "media speculation".
It was claimed that Kriel would be reunited with former Lions coach Johan Ackermann at the Premiership club on a three-year deal.
Kriel last year signed a contract to play for Kubota Spears when not featuring for Lions and In Touch Sports denied the 28-year-old is set for a switch to Kingsholm.
The company posted a statement on Facebook, which said: "Simply media speculation - Jaco Kriel has not signed for Gloucester Rugby.
"He is signed & committed to the Lions for Super Rugby. Will only make a decision on his future in March after consulting with Lions."
