Two days after Virat Kohli's wedding it was India's stand-in captain Rohit Sharma taking centre stage with a scintillating third one-day international double-century against Sri Lanka in Mohali.
Kohli was rested for the ODI series and married long-time girlfriend Anushka Sharma in Italy on Monday, but Rohit led by example in his absence with a magnificent 208 not out from only 153 balls as India posted a mammoth 392-4.
Rohit tormented the Sri Lanka bowlers in the second match of the series after India were skittled for only 112 in the first meeting, suffering a shock seven-wicket loss.
The opening batsman was the only player to have two ODI double-hundreds to his name before Wednesday, but now has three after smashing 12 sixes and 13 fours in a brutal knock.
Classy right hander Rohit faced 115 balls to reach triple figures and produced a brutal onslaught from then on, dispatching the Sri Lanka attack to all parts to score the sixth-highest total in the 50-over format.
Rohit made the record ODI score of 264 against the same opponents three years ago and also struck a 209 versus Australia in 2013.
Shikhar Dhawan (68) and Shreyas Iyer (88) also capitalised on great batting conditions, but it was all about Rohit as Sri Lanka were left facing a huge run chase.
