Bayreuth bounce back in BCL as York comes out firing
Gabe York's superb display helped Medi Bayreuth get back on track in the Basketball Champions League with an 80-73 win over AEK.
Bayreuth had lost three Group C games in succession, but prevailed on Wednesday as York put up 22 points, including 20 in the first half alone.
"I think we came out ready to play," said the American. "We needed this victory after three losses in a row.
"It was definitely big for us to come out strong ... and we were able to hold off a really good basketball team."
Bayreuth are now fifth in Group C, level on points with Banvit and Movistar Estudiantes, who edged out leaders Umana Reyer Venezia 81-80.
AS Monaco maintained their perfect record in Group A with a 79-65 triumph over Pinar Karsiyaka, while there were also wins on Wednesday for Dinamo Sassari, Besiktas Sompo Japan and Telekom Baskets Bonn.
